“You may ask yourself, how did I get here?”

(Once in a Lifetime, Talking Heads)

I began my career as a tax professional in 2013 and opened my own practice as an Enrolled Agent in January of 2019.  I’ve built my clientele through
hard work, transparency, good communication, highly personalized service and infinite hours on research and continuing education. Because clients trust my work ethic and due diligence and because I actively participate in the professional community of Enrolled Agents, I am continually expanding my body of knowledge and expertise. There is no room for hubris in this job. “I don’t know, but will find out,” have been the opening words to many a lasting client relationship.

My gravitation toward the field of tax preparation began in 2011, long after pocketing many a life experience, and that is a good thing, for both my clients and for me. After graduating from Cal State Chico in 1991, I didn’t put down roots in any one career, or continent, until after being married and having kids in 2005. Even then we switched resident countries, from my husband’s native Spain to my native San Francisco Bay Area. The common threads through all my previous academic and career endeavors were writing, languages, teaching, guiding and administration – the consequential skills of which,  it turns out, lend themselves well to the field of tax research, discourse and preparation.

As a sole proprietor, not bound by the scheduling constraints and profit margins of a large company agenda, I can give clients, and myself, the time and attention we all deserve to do a thorough job that includes educating and consulting.

The more I help you, the more my knowledge and experience grow. A heart-felt THANK YOU to all my clients and to our invaluable community of EA’s and CPA’s without whom I could not have come this far, nor continue on.  Most of all, thank you to my husband and kids whose support, patience and sacrifice have made reaching my professional goals possible.            Upwards and onwards!

About My Logo:

Look closely at the colorful, connected abstract shapes and you may recognize trapeze artists.

This is in fact a painting by Belgian artist Philip Coucke, entitled O’Trapezo. In thinking long and hard about what it meant to hang out my shingle, I purposefully sought out an image of trapeze artists. Their seamless feat depends on both exacting skill and unwavering trust – something inspirational.  They literally take a leap of faith. We figuratively do the same when placing our trust for the first time in a professional who is new to us, and (s)he in the new client. While the trust and working relationship become easier over time, still, the level of dedication, skill, communication and accountability necessary never diminishes.

I’ve come to see Phil’s painting as the talisman and representational cornerstone of my business, serving as a constant reminder – of the people who have supported me, of my obligation to clients and myself, and of the importance of humility forever and always before the task.  Thank you Phil for allowing me to use your exceptional piece of artwork in a way that is so important to me!
